Every time I think the internet has run out of good comics, I stumble across another one that blows my mind. This time it's Sam and Fuzzy. I've nearly wrapped up my inevitable archive binge of it, and if you've never read it I recommend you do. I guess I just have soft spot for black and white comics like that and Octopus Pie and Sinfest (which is why my comic is black and white, not the other way around).

Part of the reason I bring this up is that at one point Sam Logan, creator of Sam and Fuzzy, gave a brief explanation of how he scans his comics. The way I'd been doing it involved scanning it as a grayscale, bumping up the threshold, and tweaking the contrast, but now, thanks to me stealing his ideas, I'm scanning it as a black and white picture and changing it to grayscale once in Photoshop. It's... actually pretty obvious when I put it like that. But it's quicker and removes a lot of the guesswork. And I think it makes the lines smoother because it doesn't eat the anti-aliasing like my old way. Woo!

This reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes.

"Here's 5ยข, what do I get?"

"Nothing, I just ripped you off!"
